Lucid dreaming trainer
Start Lucid Dreaming On Command
Lucyd trains lucid dreaming with nothing but your phone, built on real sleep science. She learns your dreams, nudges your awareness by day, and plays your cue at just the right moment while you sleep.
No accounts. No cloud. Your journal stays on your device.

The science
Grounded in the Northwestern 2024 study.
Lucyd is built on Targeted Lucidity Reactivation, or TLR. In 2024, Konkoly and colleagues at Northwestern showed, for the first time, that you can provoke lucid dreams at home with an ordinary smartphone. A short pre-sleep routine pairs a sound cue with a moment of awareness. Then, during REM, that same cue is played back to spark lucidity.
Phone only, no lab
The first study to provoke lucid dreams at home on a normal smartphone. No headband, no wires.
A cue paired with awareness
Before sleep, a sound is paired with a short mindfulness routine. Later that cue is replayed during REM.
Timed to your REM
You dream 4 to 6 times a night. Lucyd aims the cue at those windows, when lucidity is possible.
Source: Konkoly et al. (2024), “Provoking lucid dreams at home with sensory cues paired with pre-sleep cognitive training.” Reported lucid dreams rose from an average of 0.74 to 2.11 per week. Lucyd applies this method. It does not guarantee results, and lucid dreaming remains a skill you build with practice.
How it works
One gentle loop, day and night.
You bring the curiosity. Lucyd brings the timing, the cue, and the memory of every dream you log.
- 01
Day
Reality checks that fit your dreams
Lucyd sends personalized trigger reminders based on the dreams you have most, say being chased, so a quick reality check becomes second nature.
- 02
Night
A wind-down, then your cue during REM
A two-minute priming settles your mind. Then Lucyd plays your cue sound during REM windows, timed on your phone or read from your Apple Watch.
- 03
Morning
Journal, and Lucyd retunes
Capture your dream by text or voice. On-device AI tags recurring dream signs and retunes your triggers for the night ahead.
What is inside
Everything for the practice, nothing you do not need.
On-device dream signs
Recurring symbols are tagged locally, never uploaded.
Voice or text journaling
Speak it half-asleep or type it. Whatever you will actually do.
Apple Watch REM
Optional, for sharper timing. Phone-only works great too.
Personalized triggers
Reminders shaped by the dreams you have most.
Local notifications
Scheduled on-device. Nothing pushed from a server.
No hardware needed
Just your phone. Backed by the research to work that way.
Privacy
Your dreams never leave your phone.
Privacy is not a setting in Lucyd, it is the architecture. There is nowhere for us to read your journal, because it never reaches us.
- No user accounts, no login, and no backend server of ours.
- Journal entries, goals, dream signs, and reminders live on your device.
- Dream-sign detection runs on-device with Apple's NaturalLanguage framework.
- Subscriptions go through Apple In-App Purchase, managed by RevenueCat, which only ever sees a random app-generated ID and your purchase status.
- Notifications are scheduled locally, not pushed from a server.
- No third-party analytics SDK, no ad tracking, and no data selling.
FAQ
The honest answers.
No. Lucyd is built on the first study to show this works on a normal smartphone, no headband and no lab. If you have an Apple Watch, Lucyd can use it to detect REM more precisely, but it is completely optional.
Yes. It is a well documented state studied in sleep labs for decades. Lucyd is based on Targeted Lucidity Reactivation from the Northwestern 2024 study, where lucid dreams went from 0.74 to 2.11 per week on average.
No. Your journal, goals, dream signs, and reminders are stored on your device. Dream-sign detection runs on-device using Apple's NaturalLanguage framework. There is no account and no server of ours that your entries are sent to.
No, and anyone who promises that is not being honest. Lucid dreaming is a skill. Lucyd gives you a science-backed routine and the right cue at the right moment, then it gets better as it learns your dreams. Consistency does the rest.
After a short wind-down, Lucyd times your REM windows and plays your chosen cue sound during them, using your phone or Apple Watch REM detection. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device.
Anytime, from your App Store settings. If your plan includes a free trial, you can cancel before it ends and you will not be charged. Manage or cancel under your Apple ID subscriptions.
Tonight
Tonight could be the night.
